Reconstruit en 1638 (16ème année du règne du roi Injo), le pavillon Gwanghallu est l'une des structures typiques de la dynastie Joseon. Le pavilion a été construit en 1419 par la figure politique Hwang Hui durant son exil à Namwon. Le premier nom du pavillon fut Gwangtongnu. Le pavillon est notamment connu pour son jardin 'Gwanghalluwon'.
